Only one month left to sign up!

The registration for the European Maccabi Football Trophy will close in a month. The already special event is even more important this year, as it will serve as a test for the 2019 European Maccabi Games. For the first time this year, teams will be able to compete in futsal in addition to the regular football tournament.

The tournament will take place between the 14th and 17th of June, in Balatonfüred, at the City Football Field which has relatively new football and training fields that are in excellent condition. According to the current data, 8 teams are expected to compete in the tournament, in the open-male category.

The football games will be played according to regular football rules, although matches will consist of two 35 minute halves. Teams will arrive at Ferihegy Airport on Thursday and will be taken to their accommodations. On Friday, numerous sporting events will be hosted, and will be followed by a rest day on Saturday. On Sunday, the knockout rounds of the tournament will take place.

The futsal games will take place at a High School, also in Balatonfüred. The school is home to a brand-new futsal arena, built right next to the school and has state of the art facilities. Hopefully, the futsal tournament will also have at least 6-8 participating teams. We have open-male, junior-male and open-female categories in the futsal that we will re-evaluate based on the registrations once the entry-period has closed.

Registration is open until the 15th of March. TO-s received an invitation to the event, but signing up is also possible at the website of the European Maccabi Games.

The organizers were looking for a city that has suitable venues, is attractive during the summer and where kosher meals can be provided. Balatonfüred covers all three, is situated on the coast of Balaton Lake, which is why it was chosen as the host city. We will provide kosher meals and airport transfers throughout the tournament and athletes will be accommodated at hotels near Lake Balaton.
