Games

Who organizes the European Maccabi Games?

EMG are always organized with the close cooperation of the European Maccabi Confederation and the Maccabi Territorial Organization. So the 15th European Maccabi Games are organised by the EMC and Maccabi VAC Hungary.

When will the next EMG be held?

They will be held between 29 July - 7 August of 2019.

How many athletes are expected to take part in the event?

We are expecting more than 2,000 athletes.

How I can participate in the EMG as an athlete?

First, please contact your local Maccabi organization!

What kind of sports will be in the EMG?

What kind of parasports will be in EMG?

It depends on the applicants. We hope to provide as many parasports as possible during the EMG.

Where will the sports events take place?

The sports competitions will take place in different locations. Please look at the Venues for more information.

Accommodation

Where will the athletes stay during the EMG?

We have several huge beautiful hotels in the downtown close to the sports venues. We are working hard to find you the best solution.

Where will be the VIP guests be hosted?

We have several huge beautiful hotels in the downtown close to the sport venues. We are working hard to find you the best solution.

Where will be the volunteers be hosted?

In every European Maccabi Games host families look after the volunteers.

Transport

How do the athletes get from the hotel to the sport venues and back to the hotel?

We will provide shuttles from professional bus companies. We will take everyone to the sport venues and back to the hotels.

How long does it take to get to the sport venues?

It depends on which sport venue you want to go. The journey will take less than 30 minutes.

What kind of public transportation is available in Budapest?

We have four metros, several trams, buses and trolleybuses. For more information click here.

How much does a bus ticket cost?

It costs 350 Ft however, public transportation will be free for those who have badges.

Badge

What can I do if the information on my badge is not correct?

Please send us an e-mail with your correct information as soon as possible.

What can I do if I lose my badge?

We ask that you take good care of your badge. However, if you lose it, call our hotline as soon as possible. If you need a new badge, you will have to pay for it.

When and where must I wear my badge?

You always have to wear your badge – in the hotel, on the shuttle, at the sports venues and at the organized programs. Your badge is your ticket to use our services and get to the events.

About 100,000 people are considered Jewish in Hungary.

Where can I find a synagogue in Budapest?

Check our all-you-need map or read our articles about synagogues in Budapest. If you need more information, contact us and we will help you find all the synagogues in the city.

How far is the closest synagogue from the hotel?

Most of the synagogues are about 10 minutes walking distance from every accommodation.

Where can I eat kosher food?

What kind of Jewish programs are there during the EMG?

The biggest festival of Europe, the Jewish Cultural Feast, will be held during the EMG. Besides that we have many programs organized by different Jewish institutions and other entertainment groups. Check Budapest on the menu bar.

Where is the Jewish quarter?

Check the All-you-need map! The Jewish quarter is on the Pest side of the city. It includes Dohány street with the Great Synagogue, Rumbach Sebestyén street with its synagogue, Gozsdu Courtyard on Király street, Kazinczy street with all its Jewish and kosher restaurants and Klauzál square. Free time

What can we do in our free time?

You are lucky! Budapest has a lot of treasures to share with you. You can climb Gellért Hill, walk on the Castle Hill, go for a cruise on the River Danube or visit museums, exhibitions and concerts. If you want to go out at night, you will find many bars and clubs in the city center.

Where are the best restaurants?

Where can I go to a classical concert?

Your are in the right city! Palace of Arts, Liszt Academy or the Opera House are music halls where you will enjoy every performance.

Which are the best bars in Budapest?

We have tons of fantastic bars. If you are looking for something underground, go to Kazinczy street to discover the ruin pubs. If you want to drink before going to a club, the best place to go to is Gozsdu courtyard where there are several different, but marvelous bars. If you want to discover the city and stop for a drink in a fancy bar, go from Deák square through Basilica to the Chain Bridge. You will love them!
