The organizers of the 2019 European Maccabi games in Budapest summarized what they have learned during the first stage of the preparations at the Maccabi World Union’s congress. The event took place on May 26-27 in Ramat Gan, Israel.
The members of the Hungarian delegation held a Q&A session, where they looked back on the lessons learned during the first step of the four step registration process, such as assessing what sporting events will take place, based on the first feedback forms.
The next morning, the delegates elected the World Maccabi Union’s new president, Jack Terpins, the new manager, Amir Peled and the new officers as well.
Sunday, at noon, the Hungarian delegation held another presentation regarding the progress of the 2019 games. Gábor Balázs talked about the event’s role in changing the Jewish identity in Hungary, about water as the symbol of the games, and also about the cultural and educational concepts of the games. Balázs Deutsch summarized the lessons learned so far, and the outlook for certain sports. Last, but not least, Fanni Szőke reported on the progress of accommodation, transport, the status of the opening and closing ceremonies and the Futsal Cup in Balatonfüred that is schedule for July.
